My point exactly. Those are just trends. I was really angry when my friend tried to convince me that steeping green teas at near boiling water can cause cancer when I told him you can steep green tea that way also with shorter times.

Then why is there no evidence of cancer 200, 500, 1000 or more years ago. This technique is not as new a cancer.

I may be mistaken but such articles and "researches" make me angry!

On the other hand I laugh at those companies trying to sell the teas for special healing purposes. Like slimming pu erh, relaxing green tea, anti something black tea... :)

Yes –tea to cure cancer is an on going debate. No-one knows for sure. or if somebody knows – stays silent. Just imagine if it was true that good tea prevents cancer. What would that mean to pharmaceutical corporations? Who are selling enormously high priced medicine for cancer and they can not cure from it (in the later cancer stages) – just prolongs one’s life.. it means paying for medicine until the end of your days.. doesn’t that sound like a perfect business plan – a robbery in bright day light? No accusations here. Just thoughts. Simple common sense.

My taste buds decided for me a long time ago; I drink tea because I love it - not because it'll make me the healthiest 100 year old around. If one day, somebody proves that my tea drinking habits got me there; great! If not, too bad. It tastes good, it's legal, and it's not going to get me run over by a bus.
Here's to another cup!

Tony,

Tea for me isn't about drinking for its health benefits. I drink tea to slow down, reflect and enjoy either time to myself or pleasant conversation with friends. Any possible health benefits are just extra.
